Did you know that the use of compostable bags in the Green Bin is now mandatory in York Region EXCEPT Markham?

Town of Markham is postponing its implementation of a compostable bag program until further notice. Until then, we don’t have to purchase the hard-to-get and expensive compostable bags. We should, however, be environmentally conscious by reducing our volume of garbage whenever possible.

If we do not start with our generation, right now and right here, our next generation, and future generations, will be paying for our negligence. Take all opportunities to educate children in your family about the importance of waste reduction. Model the behaviour for them so they how easy it is to be kind to the Earth and the environment.

Remember to be "green" and always reduce, reuse and recycle whenever possible.
